For many years, as a professional photographer, I have toured the vast Australian landscape capturing images that were, well, quintessentially Australian. But what of the countries outside Australia’s borders? Lands far away across the seas? People, landscapes, art, architecture and indeed the humdrum of everyday life?

Taking my first leap into overseas travel last year, I toured solo and whilst a little daunting and challenging at first, it was also far more exciting and thrilling than I had ever expected.

Where did I go? Well, ask anyone who travels and they will tell you they have a list. I simply started at the top of mine. Europe.

When planning my first tentative forays into the blue yonder though I had two very important questions. Firstly, what could I expect from the tours I had chosen, and secondly, what might I see along the way?

And since returning from my travels I have realized others may indeed ask themselves those very same two questions. They may be interested in reading and seeing a little of what they might expect of their own future travels. So, here is my Travel Essae of some very popular European tours.
